Thesis Columbia Biblical Seminary and School of Missions 2012.

Includes bibliographical references.

Recruiting full time officers for the Salvation Army has become difficult in Germany, even though the slogan of the Salvation Army Soup, Soul and Salvation--has become the focus of contemporary churches and is a recommended ministry style. The impact of the German branch of the organization seems to be lessening despite regular preaching of the Word and extensive social services ministering to the actual needs of people. In order to address the issues behind the current issues facing the SA in Germany, this dissertation examines the setting of priorities for officers in the field according to the spiritual and social aspects of the Salvation Army. In order to accomplish this task, the author interviewed German field officers.
