Rev. John Harold Bratt (1909-2000) was a distinguished professor of religion and theology at Calvin College. Born in Holland, Michigan, he graduated from Calvin Seminary in 1937 and earned a master’s degree in systematic theology from Harvard Divinity School in 1939. Bratt taught biblical studies at Calvin College, where he was known for his contributions to the academic community, including serving on many committees and as an elder and vice-president of the consistory. He also earned a doctorate in Theology from Union Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. In addition to his academic work, Bratt wrote for The Banner and contributed to Zondervan’s Bible Dictionary. He retired in 1976 and passed away in 2000.
