Beginnings -- A great recovery -- Prophecy and a lady -- Character and personal traits -- Ministry: Written and oral -- A word in closing.
Summary: Although his name is not widely recognized, the life and teaching of John Nelson Darby had a profound impact on the evangelical world of his own time and his influence continues to the present day. His extensive oral and written ministry focused on theological teachings not widespread in the nineteenth century, but now considered "fundamentals" largely because of his advocacy: Dispensational Theology; Prophecy; The Priesthood of Every Believer; The pretribulation Rapture. During his lifetime Darby ministered in virtually all of the English-speaking world and much of Europe as well. His written ministry included translations of Scripture into French, German, and English, and hundreds of books, many of which are still in use today. He was instrumental in the establishment of dozens of new churches, and had a major personal impact on other great Bible teachers, two of the most notable being D. L. Moody and C. I. Scofield. This well-documented biography, translated from the original German edition, takes an honest and fascinating look at this dedicated but largely unknown servant of Christ. Back book flap
