Dissertation note: Thesis Fuller Theological Seminary 1996. Summary: This dissertation examines Muslim fundamentalism in Pakistan. Due to competing theories of statehood and state law, inconsistency, instability, and conflicts in the movement, it suggests that the Islamic impulse has exacerbated ethnic strife and religious sectarianism. Moreover, it tests the theory that a desperate search for a "fool proof system" has created an environment favorable to the Christian gospel. Part of the research applies conversion theory to people in the context of Islamic fundamentalism. It enables students of missiology to understand better "Muslim mentality" and the problems of minorities who live under the shariah (Islamic Law)
