Born and raised in Hawaii, he eventually received his Doctor of Theology degree from the University of Basel in Switzerland. He currently serves as the Dr. M. O. Owens Jr. Chair of New Testament Studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He's had the privilege of lecturing all over the world and has written numerous scholarly articles and books. He was married to his wife Becky Lynn for 37 years until she went home to be with the Lord in 2013. He lives on a 123-acre working farm in southern Virginia and is a missionary to Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.
