520 3 _aBased on literature research and interviews four area of WEC's history as a church planting mission were explored in regard to the ecclesiological minima of the church planters. The beginnings of WEC in Congo under WEC's founder C.T. Studd which revealed two distinct phases: the work of WEC in the Gold coast/Ghana in the pioneer phase and during the church growth era; and contemporary church planters from various mission fields. The churches that emerged in Congo and Ghana were evaluated with the Five-Room Model of the church by Brian Woodford. An excursus discusses the spiritual and the socio-cultural nature of the church and the need to keep these two in a balance in order to see a stable church. Ecclesiological minima are easily influenced by evangelicalism and Zeitgeist, whether the paternalism of the colonial times or missiological trends like the church growth movement, or modernism and post-modernism. Church planters need to be aware of their own background, have deep understanding of the Bible and know their target cultures in order to be able to plant and model churches that are based on a biblical ecclesiological minimum
