Personal participation and involvement in missions has been missing in many traditional South Carolina Baptist Churches. There is a need to shift to a new paradigm or strategy of doing missions. A growing number of South Carolina Baptist Churches have implemented the partnership strategy and it has resulted in greater personal involvement among the congregation. This dissertation project addresses the question, "What factors are present in South Carolina Baptist Churches that use the partnership strategy to enhance missions engagement?" Precedent research is presented in chapter two. Research has been documented on the biblical basis for partnership and missions, literature on partnership and missions, partnership and missions resources and programs, unhealthy dependency and partnership, and other pertinent research relating to partnership in missions. Research methodology is addressed in chapter three. The methodology used in this field research was the case study method. This case study research focused on six churches. Pastors were questioned using a tested interview schedule. The interview schedule was designed around two research questions. Interviews were recorded and transcribed to document the research. Research findings are documented in chapter four. Findings from the pastors of the six case study churches that have successfully implemented a partnership strategy of missions were documented. Research findings were interpreted and discussed to discover similarities and differences. Conclusions and recommendations are presented in chapter five. Recommendations were made to South Carolina Baptist Churches that are considering implementing a partnership strategy of missions. Recommendations were also made to future researchers. | |
