520 1 _aNdabaningi Sithole is one of the founding fathers of Zimbabwe. First president of ZANU (the Zimbabwe African National Union) and the author of African Nationalism, published its first edition as long ago as 1959, he has been an implacable fighter for majority rule in his native land 'since before he was born', as Sir Roy Welensky once put it. No wonder the regime of Ian Smith in Rhodesia detained or jailed Mr Sithole for ten years. He wrote this book, amongst others, while in prison.
