520 1 _a"Defying the limitations of a single major lexical category, the participle in biblical Hebrew exhibits both nominal and verbal characteristics in its morphology and in its syntactic functioning. Progressively refined search programs have been implemented to take an inventory of the syntactic context in which the participle occurs within the morphologically coded Old Testament texts of the Werkgroep Informatica." "The syntactic patterns thus brought to light require linguistic explanation as to why the elements noted in the environment of the participle are relevant to its functioning in that context. The insights gained from this analysis can contribute towards attaining a greater level of abstraction in syntactic analyzing programs." ~ BOOK JACKET.
