Subject: Jesus sent his disciples into the world in the same manner that the Father sent Him into His world. Through the centuries His Church has responded to that command in different ways and o varying degrees. In recent years the evangelical wing of the Church has been attempting to broaden its understanding of its responsibility in the world and to respond as Christ would responded. This has not been as easy task. Old molds have had to be broken and new wineskins prepared. This book is an attempt by men and women who have had a deep convern for the mission of Christ to reflect on how and why the Church should respond to the world in which it finds itself, a world of millions of hungry people, a world of growing injustice, a world that desperately needs to see and hear living demonstrations of God's love. These papers were especially prepare for the conference I WisconsinLL BUILD MY CHURCH - WHEATON '83, and particularly for the subconsultation on The Church in Response to Human Need.
