Mission Statement This short book works from the assumption that there actually is such a thing as a natural Biblical Psychology, unmistakably embedded in the pages of Scripture. We call it Accountability Psychology. It freely and powerfully springs forth from both the Old and New Testaments. Of the current models of therapeutic psychology, it most closely resembles Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Like Scripture, our biblically-consistent form of CBT does not put the emphasis primarily on emotions, or the troubled person's past. Rather, it puts the emphasis on constructive thoughts and actions - leading to better life outcomes, short-term and long-term. The message of Scripture is not to "follow your feelings", but rather is to "lead your feelings" through true thinking and responsible behaviors. The scriptural perspective is that we are not trapped by our past; rather, by the grace of God, we can "get past our past" and live a life of blessing and joy. The purpose of this short book is to uncover and highlight this natural Biblical Model of Human Psychology, and then to show how much of the empirical outcome research over the last 40 years fully supports it. Our many communities of faith in North America and Europe have been waiting a very long time for Accountability Psychology (or something very much like it) - an effective and efficient model of therapeutic psychology that is also biblically consistent. Together, we have waited and "waded" through Freudian, Jungian, Skinnerian, and Rogerian models of psychology for decades. Christian believers are more than ready for a psychology that is genuinely biblical and operationally powerful as a scientific psychology. As an operational model, Accountability Psychology may be unique in that it meets essential criteria in both areas - biblical and scientific. AMAZON
