Book 1. Lystra -- Book II. Philippi -- Book III. Corinth -- Book IV. Ephesus.
A vivid novel set against the backgrounds of St. Paul's missionary journeys. On a single day two people who were to influence his life profoundly - one of them a soothsayer - came into the life of thirteen-year-old Timothy. Half Greek, half Jewish, Timothy lived with her widowed mother Eunice and his grandmother Lois in Lystra in Asia Minor. First came the missionary Paul, with his coapostle Silas, trudging along the dusty Roman road to bring the Good News to the city. For his efforts, Paul was stoned and unconscious, carried outside the walls and left for dead in the place of the stoning. He was revived and brought to Timothy's home for nursing. Though his wounds were severe, Paul insisted on leaving the next morning to continue his journey; and his zeal so impressed Timothy that he determined there and then to one day become a missionary with Paul. That determination was confirmed by the soothsayer's prophecy.
