Subject: This compilation of nineteenth-century documents on international and comparative education is concerned principally with the United States and Europe. It represents the transatlantic exchange of educational views of both European and American scholars and schoolmen. It also illustrates the diversity of education interests and comparisons in the writings of innumerable visitors, many of whom were both commentators and critics. The main focus of attention is the nineteenth century, the century considered to be the principal crossroad in the systematic development of foreign and comparative educational studies. Yet, the editors recognize that there is now a growing awareness of the monumental comparative writings of previous centuries, and a historical introduction is included to give the reader an overview of these earlier contributions to the field. The editors are also interested in contemporary studies, and although this compilation terminates with documents at the beginning of the twentieth century, a conclusion summarizes major developments up to the present time. https://www.amazon.com/International-Comparative-Education-Nineteenth-Century-Documents/dp/B000K60SO2/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=A+History+of+International+and+Comparative+Education&qid=1570645342&s=books&sr=1-10
