Towns presents a very uncommon approach in getting an understanding of those who shaped and influenced the initiation and organization of the early Christian church. By identifying persons, places, and situations responsible for laying the groundwork of the early Christians movement, Dr. Towns takes his students on an exciting journey through the First Century Christian era. He traveled very methodically presenting every person of influence representing the beginning of the New Testament era so that students could get a comprehensive understanding of Christ's teaching and the Holy Spirit influence on those of the early church. Through these persons of influence, this author presented a comprehensive compilation of the personnel makeup of the biblical world of the early church. He also delicately described the incomparable role the Holy Spirit played in influencing and shaping the beliefs and doctrines of those who labored in the new Christia(u2018}s movement. This book is truly a valuable aid to biblical students who desire to know more about the men and women who played a visible role in the development of the New Testament church. |
