A concise dictionary of classical mythology /Pierre Grimal ; edited by Stephen Kershaw from the translation by A.R. Maxwell-Hyslop. - Cambridge, Massachusettes : Blackwell, (c)1990. - 456 pages ; 24 cm

Translation of: Dictionnaire de la mythologie grecque et romaine.

This volume, following closely on the heels of its progenitor, Grimal's Dictionary of Classical Mythology ( LJ 2/1/86), remains a great reference tool. Entries are shortened by concentrating on the principal version of the myth and omitting minor variants. The publisher's note states that the price of the Dictionary "tended to put it beyond the reach of the lay-reader," and indeed the earlier Dictionary , currently selling at 54.95, is more expensive. This volume will suffice for most libraries. https://www.amazon.com/Concise-Dictionary-Classical-Mythology/dp/0631166963/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=0631166963&qid=1585952072&s=books&sr=1-1
