This study was a qualitative study of grounded theory design researched through interviews with ten ministers and their families. From the interviews causal conditions arose, the first being a minister goes about the task of raising godly children by maintaining the balance between time spent with his family and time spent on ministry tasks. The amount of time the minister is at home with the family, and time spent being involved in other ways in the lives of the children contribute toward the connectedness the family feels with him. The minister must then guard the time he spends with his family. A second set of behaviors of a minister seeking to raise godly children begins with shielding his family from a perceived double standard of expectations about the children's behavior. As parents, the minister and his wife must set and communicate realistic standards to the children. In doing so, respect for the children must be a component of the process, leading to the children's sense of freedom as an individual. A third set of behaviors of a minister in this process of raising godly children are his behaviors in terms of the spouse's responsibilities inside the outside the home.
