For blacks and whites in Boston, court-ordered busing proves an unpopular means of integrating schools. Atlanta's first black mayor, Maynard Jackson pursues affirmative action to help combat the city's poverty rate. The Bakke Supreme Court case challenges affirmative action when a white man sues a university on grounds of "reverse discrimination". -- Back to the movement (1979-1985) : Experience the power and powerlessness felt in black communities during the movement's third decade through firsthand knowledge and stories. Miami's Overtown section explodes in rioting when a young black salesman dies after being beaten by police for a traffic violation.
